Michael Jordan NBA Superman

Michael Jordan is known as the greatest male basketball players ever, because of his sporting achievement. He retired finally in 2001 having retired previously at the beginning of the 1993-94 NBA season.

Michael Jordan was born in 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. In 1982 Michael left the North Carolina University, where he had led their basketball team to a state Championship. In 1984 he joined the Chicago Bulls as a professional player, which led to him becoming a major sports star. He was a rising star in the league and he became renowned for his prowess in being able to perform a slam dunk from fifteen feet. He earned the nicknames “Air Jordan” and “His Airness.” He became a favorite of the fans, even from the opposing teams, and everyone knew that a super sports star was born.

In 1991, Michael Jordan went on to win an NBA championship, his first with the Chicago Bulls, and repeated the process winning again in 1992-93. On 6th October 1993, Michael Jordan retired saying he’d lost the desire to play, however, it came out later that the murder of his father earlier that year was the reason for his retirement. He was very close to his father as was shown by his imitation of his father sticking out his tongue while working. Every time he was working toward the basket he would also stick out his tongue. He founded a Boys and Girls Club in 1996 and dedicated it to his father.

Michael Jordan retired again in 1999 with the pending departures of Scottie Pippen, who announced that he was open to be traded, and Dennis Rodman who signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Lakers.

He was given the title as the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century by ESPN, and was nominated to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.

Michael Jordan is known for endorsing products, such as Nike’s Air Jordan shoes. First produced in 1985 they are still popular to this day. He has a share in the ownership of the North Carolina Charlotte Bobcats, as a Managing Associate of Operations for Basketball.

Michael Jordan is one of five children, with two brothers and two sisters. He was married in 1989 to Juanita Vanoy, and they have two sons and a daughter. His wife Juanita filed for divorce in 2002, but shortly after they reconciled, but in 2006 they were finally divorced saying that it was a mutual decision. It was reported that Juanita received a $168 million divorce settlement. It was the largest celebrity divorce settlement in history.

Michael Jordan will always be known as one of the greatest sports stars in the field of basketball. He is indeed a “superman.” Michael Jordan was an amazing professional athlete with great speed and agility across the court. To watch him play was such an inspiration to the younger generation, and he went on to spawn a number of great players. If you ask people today who they thought was one of the greatest basketball players ever, the majority of them would have to say Michael Jordan.
