Soccer Great David Beckham

David Beckham is not only known for his prowess on the field playing soccer, but also for his foray into the world of fashion and lucrative endorsements and business deals.

David Beckham was born in England in 1975 and is currently playing football for the Los Angeles Galaxy as well as the England national team. He signed as a professional in 1992 with Manchester United and is the first British footballer to play 100 Champions league matches. He gained global recognition in 2003 and 2004 when he was the most searched for sports star topic in Google.

David Beckham became captain of England from 2000 until the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals, and he played a total of 58 games. He still continues to represent his country to this day and has the honor of being England’s most-capped outfield player with a total of 112 appearances.

In 2003, David Beckham left Manchester United to play for Real Madrid staying with them for four seasons. Then in 2007 he left Real Madrid and signed a contract with Los Angeles Galaxy and he is still contracted to them today. Because of his sports star status, David Beckham is in high demand.

David Beckham married Victoria Adams, a former Spice Girl, in 1999 and they have 3 boys. They were married in a castle outside Dublin, Ireland. The bride and groom sat on gold-plated, red velvet thrones, and in keeping with the occasion, Victoria wore a crown. They had an 18-piece orchestra and coverage of their wedding was sold to a magazine for $1.5 million. The wedding is believed to have cost a whopping $800,000.

In 2004 David Beckham was hit by a scandal accusing him of cheating with his past assistant, Rebecca Loos sending her sexually explicit text messages. David issued an official reply saying that the allegations were ridiculous, but some reports came out of him sending texts and having affairs with others. David Beckham and his wife Victoria decided to fight back and posed for photographs holding hands. David claimed that he was happily married with two wonderful children.

They currently live in Beverly Hills, California, not far from their good friends Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. When they first arrived in Los Angeles, the International Airport was packed with paparazzi and reporters. It was well known that a major sports star had arrived. His wife Victoria appeared on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show, to talk about their move to LA.

David Beckham and Victoria have both been sought after to endorse clothing designers, health and fitness specialists, perfume and cosmetics manufacturers, hair stylists, exercise promoters, spa and recreation companies and fashion magazines. David has promoted a new aftershave and fragrances called David Beckham Instinct. There have been many pictures taken of the Beckhams both on their own and together. They’ve recently completed a photo shoot together for Calvin Klein.

David and Victoria Beckham are well known worldwide as self-promoting, so it’s not irregular to see them turn up at various events. Whatever they do will be captured by photographers, so it won’t matter what they get up to – we’ll soon know about it!
