Paris Hilton, a so called celebrity star, has gained a reputation as being a spoilt, rich party girl, who seeks out publicity whenever she can.

Paris Hilton was born in 1981 and is described as a model, media personality, American socialite, singer, actress, author and fashion designer. She is the eldest of four children born to Richard and Kathy Hilton. She is an heiress to the Hilton Hotels founder, Conrad Hilton, so she really doesn’t have to work for the rest of her life.

When she was growing up, she was a very good friend of two well known celebrity stars Nicole Ritchie and Kim Kardashian, and starred in the reality show “The Simple Life” with Nicole in 2003. The show ran for three seasons, but was cancelled because of a dispute between Paris and Nicole, but it went on to run for a fourth and fifth season before it was finally cancelled.

Paris Hilton began modeling as a small child and at the age of 19 she signed a contract with T Management, owned by Donald Trump. She has also had contracts with Ford Models in New York, Models 1 Agency in London, Nous Model Management Los Angeles and Premier Model Management in London. She has featured in many advertising campaigns and quickly gained a reputation as a leading socialite.

Her foray into the world of Hollywood stardom has not gone so well. She has made cameo appearances and had minor movie roles, one of which she won “Worst Supporting Actress” award at the Golden Raspberry Awards in 2005. She has had very limited success in this area. In 2003 she received a lot of negative publicity for a sex tape which was leaked to the media and later released as a DVD called “1 Night In Paris” which she desperately tried to stop through legal action. The Paris Hilton videos became very hot property.

Paris Hilton is a celebrity star who has always got something happening. She has written books, she’s designed purses, jewelry, she has her own fragrance line, but the one thing that she’ll always be remembered for, was her arrest and conviction for driving under the influence. She was arrested in 2006 with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% and her license was suspended, in 2007 she was caught twice for reckless driving and driving with a suspended license and had to sign a document stating that she was not permitted to drive. She was put on probation for 36 months and fined approximately $1500.

In February 2007 Paris Hilton was once again pulled over for doing 70mph in a 35mph zone and did not have her headlights on after dark. In May 2007 she was sentenced to 45 days in jail for violation of her parole but did everything she could to avoid staying out of jail. She began her sentence on June 5, 2007 at an all female jail and with good behavior; she would only serve 23 days. On the morning of June 7, the Los Angeles County Sheriff signed orders allowing Paris to spend her time in confinement in her home, wearing an electronic monitoring device.

On that same day the judge ordered Paris Hilton to appear before him and told her that she would be serving out her sentence in the jail, which she did and was released on June 28.

Whatever you think about Paris Hilton, she is one celebrity star who has had a very colorful life and I’m sure we haven’t heard the end of her.
